So I was playing a game when it started shuddering pretty badly and it then crashed. I restarted my computer and it blue screened with error code VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR. Upon next boot, my GPU was not running and could only be seen by selecting “show hidden devices” in device manager. I tried to reinstall drivers from nvidia and it said “could not find compatible hardware” (something like that). I then tried to uninstall drivers using DDU, but this did not solve my problem.

I have an Acer PT-515-51

i7-8750H

2x8GB ram

RTX 2060

Try the card in another system, if it still is not recognized, warranty the card.

That would not be possible as I am in a laptop. I did fix it by performing a battery reset after the ddu procedure. I got it to show up as "Microsoft basic display adapter". I have successfully installed NVIDIA drivers and it has been working fine since. Thanks for your help though!
