RM 650 or XTR 550

shadre18d
I have a question, which power supply would be better to get?

I'm looking at a RM 650 or the new XTR 550w(Link). They are both similarly priced at £80

They are both gold and both seems good. But I was wondering if I should get a XTR because of the Seasonic platform of the G550 despite the lower amps or go with the RM 650 with secondary tiered caps

What are your thoughts? If you have other suggestions, please state them.

I know my computer doesn't draw much - around 300-340 W but at £80, these gold PSU came up. I getting a new psu for future single gpu upgrades plus my current one is crap and loud.

XTR gets my vote provided you are not powering a multiple gpus rig.. I prefer not to compromise on quality when it comes to a power supply.

Then I would go with the XFX XTR 550w. As you had stated, it is based on the Seasonic G / S12G platform (but with full modularity and a FDB fan) that is better build and performing than the RM series.

If you want to go with a higher wattage unit (even though, a quality 450w would be fine for your system as well), well, you could get the XTR 650w for the same price range if you can get it here: http://www.dabs.com/products/xfx-650w-80-plus-gold-black-edition-psu-98B2.html?utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_content=AW00&awc=3044_1393615268_2b18255f943a28491904cb93f10f9906
