Possibly a faulty drive. Look on the manufacturer’s page to see if anyone else has had this problem if there’s a Q&A on the site. Then look at reseller pages for reviews as well. If there’s no info about an issue like this, it’s probably a faulty drive.

yea i got it used and i was also just on amazon and found a segate barricuda 4tb for 94 dollars i will most likely get a new one

Step 1: backup anything important if not already done so...

1. Could just be resonating, use rubber rings around the mounting screws if possible, or change orientation or slot of mounting

2. It could be dying, but if it performs normally im benchmarks thats maybe not it

3. Something electrical, check the wiring and make sure both sata cables show no signs of damage or melting on the hdds end (swirch off psu and disconnect pc from mains before checking)

Start with  3 (physical safety) then attempt 1, if still noisy, likely a case of 2 :)

Hope its just the 1st, harmless resonation, good luck :)

it is in the little mount in the case but it was tight enough to not need screws the really loud buzzing was scary and it does perform normal in benchmarks what do i do

If its that thight inside the mount/cage it might be resonance or even the result of being sqeezed a bit.

Could try (power off from mains for your safety first) gently to remove it from the cage and just lay it lose (pay attentiom to any pcb or comnector comtacts exposed on underside of hdd not to be put on bare metal from case or something like that). Then attempt a boot and see what it does.

Again, backup anything important is 1st thing to do first if applicable.

God knows; maybe due to the track the head ends in after loading it, or causes windoze to access swapdrive, etc. Etc.

But remember i also mention checking power cables.

Depending on the game, it might even be your psu if the game causes cpu power spikes or increased crossloads perhaps causing going out of spec on some rail the drive depends on. Wed need to know full system spec to make further guesses/sugestions,

Troubleshoting is a matter of inspection and trying suggestions step by step.

Did i menrion first making backups of anything important on that drive yet ;)
