Whine from GPU?

Hey guys,

Was just wondering if its normal and what its called when there is a high pitch 'whine' from the GPU under heavy load.

I noticed it just today running unigen valley on my 780ti but I also noticed the exact same thing and even higher pitch on my girlfriends r9 290 when we play saints row 4.

What causes this?

I have a very rare occurance with coil whining. Only when i start FIFA 14. It whines on the first loading screen. That's the only time it has ever done that. And still does till this day.

Ahh yep, its definitely coil whine, well that's a shame since both of our cards do it, interesting what he said about power supplies though since I have an AX760i platinum you would think it would give nice clean power and minimize any coil whine

I just read that if you overvolt the card it can make it go away or if you set a frame rate target in precision x it can also help

Not sure if that will work but it may sometimes disappear overtime.
