Hello,

I am trying to find out whether there are docking stations compatible with desktops or not.

So far, I have seen a lot of docking stations compatible with laptops (I have one), but the information about compatibility with desktops is very limited. I know there are USB port replicators, but that is not what I need.

Currently, I have a Dell laptop and  Dell port replicator

All my peripherials (2 DisplayPort monitors, mouse, keyboard, headphones, printer, external HDD) and network cable are connected to my laptop through port replicator. I will receive a desktop PC soon and would like to use the same external devices I use now with my laptop. I do not want to connect everything directly to new PC, because I still have to work on my laptop quite often.

Therefore, I am looking for some docking station that is compatible with both my laptop and PC. I need to connect all my external devices to it and then I would like to easily connect/disconnect docking station to my PC or laptop. Btw. USB-C is not an option - both laptop and PC do not have it, so only standard USB 2/3 is available.

Could anyone recommend something based on my requirements, please?

I have found this so far, but it is rather incompatible with my old laptop.

Thanks in advance.

Since you can't use USB-C or TB3 your only option will probably be a KVM switch. But one with dual DPs and USB3 switching for the external HDD will likely be hard to find and expensive, so you'll still probably have to settle for moving a few of the plugs back and forth manually.

Or maybe get separate switches for USB3 and display.
