[Mac OS] Framerate limiter software?

Greetings,
The 13,3" MacBook Pro (i5 dual core 2,9-3,3 GHz with Intel Iris Graphics 550) of a friend gets too hot while gaming (Sims 4 through Origin). So I'm looking to install a program with which I can limit the max. framerate. I don't have any knowledge with that OS.

 

  Origin, the game and the OS settings app don't seem to have such a setting. I've searched through search engines and in the app store with no results. Does such a software exist? Is Aferburner compatible? Maybe a kind of Intel driver Interface?
