1700$CAN Build

Flowey

Budget (including currency): About 1700$ CAN

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Medium settings on games, background in computer science, nothing too heavy

Other details ATX form factor case. Already have monitor, mouse and keyboard

Alright, so it's been a few years since my last build, and now my brother wants a tower for himself. I believe I've got the basics down, here's the current partlist :https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/gJqWRk

The motherboard is kinda confusing me to be honest, and if you've got corrections/suggestion go ahead I'm all ears.

Thks.

Many of them are, and at this point, it's basically impossible for old B450 boards to be on the shelf so long that they don't come with an updated BIOS out of the box.

@Flowey what resolution/refresh rate is your monitor? If you only want to play 1080p 60FPS, you don't need to spend anywhere near $1700...

Hopefully in stock, many budget B550 boards have better phases and features than a lot of x570 boards

He wants the full package, as in 1080p 144hz, which is why I asked him for 200$ extra to accommodate a better GPU/CPU combo.

What monitor does he have? If it's non freesync I'd honestly recommend hawking it and upgrading to an adaptive sync display.

Now I'm a bit confused ; Freesync used to be AMD's answer to Nvidia's Gsync, unless they've decided otherwise since then? To answer, I'll be selling him one of my 144hz monitor. Is screentearing more common now then it was back then?

So this specific motherboard

ASRock B550 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard

With this chipset would be compatible with ryzen 3600 out of the box?

Well, G-sync monitors are pricey and rarer, and NVidia cards can use freesync now... At $1700 he can afford a new freesync monitor as part of his build.
