Hi,

so at my home before I bought a nighthawk xr300 I just had a regular virgin media modem/router (UK Setup) my download speeds are 400mbps but to get a wired connection to my games room I need a to link power line adapter. I now get roughly 100mbps in the games rooms.

i bought an xr300 and I just can’t seem to workout how my soeeds actually get worse? Also when I put my gateway into modem mode, the smart tv doesn’t stream at all through XR300. If I take it out of modem mode I obviously get double nat.

other then having a 30m Ethernet cable through my house. Am I missing something? Being stupid or should I just give up on the xr300?

i look forward to peoples opinions

First of all the power line adapter would cause speed issues. They are not Ethernet, they have limitations. The wiring in your homes condition, the distance between adapters and sometimes items plugged in to the same circuit can cause issues for these adapters.

As far as your issues with bridge mode on your gateway, I have no clue. Unlike most part of the world here in the US we can buy our own equipment and it doesn't have to be a crappy combo unit. So Ive never had to deal with bridge mode. But it could be a misconfiguration in your router if you're not getting a connection, otherwise maybe bridge mode is brorked on your gateway. I know my friend had tons of issues trying to change settings on Comcast's internet gateway a while ago.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
