Simply put, I have a TUF-X570 and Ryzen 3600 with a Scythe Mugen cooler. I would like to switch to Ryzen 4000 down the road, and the case is really well ventilated.

Recently swapped my modules:

  • FROM: Trident Z Neo DDR4-3200 16-18-18-36 (2x8GB Samsung)
  • TO: Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 16-19-19-39 (2x16GB Hynix)

General use is okay, but after a game hard-locked the system, I checked the RAM. Karhu RAM Test hits an error within 5 minutes of use. If I clock down to DDR4-3200, no errors after 7 hours of testing, even at 16-18-18-36.

I guess what I'm asking is: Is this the CPU memory controller, or the RAM? Should I be sending it back (the RAM is bad?) or the CPU just is a dud and can't handle it (the RAM is good?)

Any ideas?

Why did you switch from b die to hynix?

We don't know

The imc will be able to handle the ram depending on the quality of the ram and the imc it self

Clear the cmos

Update the bios

Set the soc to 1.1 and dram to 1.35

Try 3600

Use memtest86 and OCCT to make sure it's stable

I needed to go above 16GB of RAM for work reasons. The Samsung b-die version of this kit is extremely expensive, I think at least a $100 premium over the Hynix kit on Newegg's international site. I normally do not use any sort of memory overclocking and the kit is on the QVL, so I figured it would be okay stock at 3600 CL16.

I have the latest BIOS but I will reset CMOS and try your suggestions on settings (I believe XMP JEDEC is 1.35V anyway, but can't hurt to set!)

Yes set the soc to 1.1 and dram to 1.35

If you want don't go straight for 3600 and you can do some testing with 3466 or you can also go straight for 3600

Went straight for 3600, and it worked. Has passed multiple tests overnight. Thanks for your help, it's encouraging to know it's not hardware failure at all. :)
