Question about cpu upgrade

My sister want to upgrade her i7 4790k and gtx 980 system, what's the best bang for your buck ryzen cpu for gaming and CAD software (cadia) - she works with 3d designing for housing. 

She doesn't want to buy threadripper tho thanks.

Depending on core count needs....

12 threads, 3600X

16 threads, 3700X

24 threads, 3900X

 

Are the best bang for buck on the market. Want more bang, pay more bucks

What @ShrimpBrime said, but instead of the 3600x you can get a 3600 as they are basically the same processor just with slightly different clocks.

I think her 4790k was 4 core 8 threads she did get a classmate then to overlook it for her to 4.8ghz so I think either of those chips are considered an upgrade. She plays alot of FPS and she's using a $2000 99% color accuracy monitor for work, we plan to get a NZXT H210I itx case with aio cooling which cpu can handle her were and not cook her room?

Then any of the ones mentioned above will be adequately cooled. Choose which ever one your budget can fit.

How high does she have to get her ram if we get the 3700? The pc shop owner said ryzen likes high speed ram

It’s not as important on recent ryzen as in the past. 3200 or 3600mhz cl16 ram would be great. I haven’t watched it yet, but this video should describe it more in depth if your interested.

Cpu supports up to 3200Mhz. You don't need anything faster than that.
