Premiere Pro Build

My local computer store has a ASUS ROG STRIX B550-E on stock. Good?

Yes, it’s in the same tier as the Tomahawk.

Enjoy your build!

Budget (including currency): € 2000

hi guys,

I would like to build myself a PC that is capable of running video editing software (in my case Premiere Pro) and Photo editing software (also the Adobe stuff)  smoothly and is also capable of rendering everything in a decent amount of time.
I currently work on a MacBook Pro 15" with an RX 5700 XT as eGPU and I am quite happy with the preformace but I think there is more out there.

I would like to build a PC that can last a couple of years and will not be out of date in a few months.

Could anyone help me choose components that fit the need and also are in my budget?
The Radeon would stay, so graphic card would not be in the budget.

regards and happy monday

Nothing extremy exciting. I do image films for museums and hotels. Nothing over 4k, in general nothing over 80 MBit/s with a few filters and blurs. I think that my workload is not that high. But i would like to get better and accept bigger jobs.

This will last you very long time, but not really necessary, you can do it much less.

But since you have 2000 to waste.

With no effects a 6 cored cpu will just be fine for 4k editing.

You can also do this, 1 step lower cpu, but better motherboard and another hdd for the same money.

I would not really use the local storage. All date is on an NAS. Or would you recommend working local?

I see nas as a long term storage, not for working, unless you have a 10gbps network.

But since you have nas, i think 1 hdd should be enough.

the rest of your budget can go to better monitor and gears.

another thing to mind, do you need it now, or can you have it later like december, because AMD will release a new processors lineup by then.

I see.
Will this new lineup make a great difference in price in regards to the 3950X? Because a dip of 15-20% does not really make it worth the wile.

That board will not handle a 16 core cpu.

@FizzFantom Avoid the MSI board as it is garbage.

honestly in terms of performance you will only loose 20% rendering speed, the 12 cores is really enough even for 4k and beyond, as i said even a 6 core is fine, the difference is just the rendering.

That board is fine, as any Asus X570 board. Only good MSI X570 is the Tomahawk which is hard to get at the minute, and the Unify and Ace. The other MSI X570 should be avoided. Also the B550 boards are supposedly due out tomorrow.

The link below suggests that Nvidia is preferable to AMD if you are using gpu acceleration.

Yeah they will all handle a 16 core. The B550 boards are supposed to be out tomorrow though. Stock might be a bit flaky due to the current situation though.

Much better motherboard choice with the Aorus Ultra.  The MSI x570 boards are actual trash or merely overpriced depending on the model.

I'll also say, personally I really don't like the NZXT H510, it's got bad thermals compared to some of the mesh front cases like BeQuiet! Pure Base 500Dx that also comes with 3x quality 140mm fans installed.  But other than that I think the build looks very solid.

I'd personally look at like the Meshify C, Cooler Master TD500 or H500 mesh as well.

Don't forget that the B550 boards are due out today, so worth looking at those as well before you commit to an X570.

Not that much really. For the average user a B550 will be fine. The prices might not be that much cheaper though as new boards always tend to be more expensive than the previous ones until they settle down.
