So I built my first rig with an i7-6800k and a Gigabyte GA-x99 Ultra Gaming configurator (not sure how much the whole name matters). From what I have seen this is kind of a pain for people to get their hands on. I thought about selling it, but the pricing privately is all over the place, and retail doesn't exist anymore. I thought about just turning it into a workstation for my job, but not sure. What would you guys do?

Well the price is high because there's not a lot of those boards and cpu's around but also because not a lot of people buy them because you could usually get a better ryzen system new.

The 6800k isn't bad but also nothing special nowadays so reuse it or sell the whole bundle.

Just don't know what to market it at. I have been able to get a steady OC of 4.2GHz on it with ease, and it pretty much handles anything you throw at it for gaming. Obviously if you're doing multi-task items Ryzen is definitely the better way to go. But yep, you have my feelings on the matter lol.

Not to sound mean but it's usually the uninformed or kinda idiots that will buy your x99 board because extreme platform must mean it's better. So if you want just market it like that and it should sell quick.

lots of people wanting to buy spares too tbh - existing X99 system is doing well for them and it's cheaper to replace the board than to replace the board and CPU

Oh I meant it if you bundle it. x99 boards that are not those chinese ones sell like hotcakes.
