Hello, new here, so recently I just bought a UPS for my PC and I have it set up in my room which is air conditioned, so naturally, I also set up the UPS there, are there any safety hazards either for me or for my hardware? or should I relocate my UPS? It is generally hot here in my country so the AC is always on.
If I do have to relocate, I would have to plug an extension to the UPS so that it can reach, would that be fine?(Clarification, UPS plugged to the wall, then extensions plugged to the output of the UPS)
Hope you can give me some insights, Thanks!

UPS is mostly a power strip, more or less so if that is where you were plugging in your computer I guess that’s where it goes.  An ac unit is basically a big electric motor that auto starts and stops which will put stress on things.   A ups should handle that though.  It’s sort of what they are for.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I wouldn't plug the ac into the ups(those motors can have a very high startup current that will trigger over current protection and turn it off), but there its fine to use a ups in a ACed room.

Those motors can have very high startup currents, so id keep the ups from powering the AC. I don't see a reason to put the ac on the UPS anways. they also pull a lot of power.

Oh sorry, my bad I may have worded that wrongly, I am NOT plugging the AC to the ups, only my PC, but I read that a UPS shouldn't be inside an air conditioned room but I don't know enough so that's what I meant, so judging by what you said initially, it's fine to set it up in my ACed room? Sorry, I just need to clarify since a lot of sites and forums I read have conflicting advice/opinions.

Yea, I don't see how there would be any issue, and tons of servers rooms have airconditioned UPS.

What do you think the issue would be?

I got worried because some of the sites/forums I read, Quora(https://www.quora.com/Is-it-safe-to-keep-inverter-batteries-and-UPS-in-an-air-conditioned-room) in particular, said that you shouldn't put a UPS in an ACed room because they said a UPS exudes fumes that the AC may circulate around the room that could cause health problems, since I share my room, I figured I shouldn't compromise both mine and my roommate's health.

He’s got the ac ON the UPS?  Yeah.  That’s a bad idea.  Plugged into the same outlet sure. Plugged INTO the UPS?  Not so great.

5c qualifies as arctic.  That’s pretty cold.  Anything under 20c is pretty cold.

Well most all upses for home and small networks uses sealed lead acid batteries, and those won't cause any issues. Look here https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/175649/are-sealed-lead-acid-batteries-safe-to-use-indoors/191938

Also the AC won't really affect this, while the ac recirculates, all homes aren't fully sealed, so the air will still recirculated pretty often.

This is what I thought but apparently this is less true these days.  Back in olden times it was a couple of deep cycle motorcycle batteries.  Quite handy.  They were cheap to replace.

I still got that. Got 4 boat batteries on my main ups, and some solar panels to charge it and a pi controlling it all.

Thats a fair point, you said this is in your room, why the hell does your room get to 5C lol

Yeah most consumer UPS' use sealed lead acid batteries of which I have two on my desk right now

Lowest on full blast, but on regular cycles it is way above 20 C so I guess it should be fine.
Anyways, thanks guys, at the very least some of my worries have been lifted. This has been very insightful for me.

There were times before where I would set it on full blast even during colder days, and would get to around that point at perfect conditions, but these days, I just keep it at comfortable temperatures. Above 20 C.
Well anyways, Thanks again.
