Pysical equalizer stack, noob question maybe ?

Eirikstrand1996

Hi, am kinda a novice when it comes to sound but am very interested in good audio, anyway
I use a Pioneer VSX-423 receiver with source from fiber optical toslink and i plan to add a vinyl player on top like a stack
well i started messing around with EQ and woundered if it exist a pysical EQ board or something i can add to my stack ?

so the source would go to the EQ board with toslink and then to the receiver right ? and maybe even the vinyl player could go to the equalizer and then to the receiver

reason for a pysical EQ is becase i listen to a variety of music, and i dont like to go into a software to change it all the time

example picture and backl side of my receiver

Of course you can stick an EQ in the middle but should you? I'd suggest trying to listen to your music in as neutral settings as possible but if you want to correct room EQ and stuff like that perhaps hardware EQ may help. I know nothing about commercial EQ but in a studio setting EQ always uses analogue connections so TOSLINK isn't a connectivity option, you want to do all your DAC and ADC inside the receiver.

I can see what you are saying, thanks for helping me understand :)
my first i idee was to build a 10 band EQ, get som help form a computer electricer i know and then code my own software to run it
the only problem was that, its not to much info online on how to do it and it's a bit of a work

Why bother when the Behringer FBQ3102HD or DBX231s are available for far less than you'd spend making one yourself?
An EQ typically goes after conversion and before amplification so I'm not sure you can achieve that........
