As the title says, sometimes when I plug a device into the front I/O ports my computer will reset. It's pretty rare, so I'm not sure what could be causing it, or even what steps to take to troubleshoot it. I'm wondering if it could somehow be shorting across the reset switch, or shorting something else? Could it be something with the motherboard?

I have a Fractal Focus G Mini case and a ASRock B450M-HDV motherboard. Any help is appreciated!

sounds like a short in the connector for your USB connector to your motherboard. Reseat the connector and if it continues, you should RMA the case with Fractal or just not use them.

Thanks, I've tried reseating the connector already, so I'll reach out to Fractal

Could be static electricity from your body.

I guess I didn't think of that. Is it common for that sort of thing to happen? And would a discharge of static across one of the I/O ports trigger the reset switch somehow? (I'm pretty new to pc building, so forgive my ignorance)

It happened to me a few times. Usually when the weather is very dry. There are protections in motherboard components, so nothing is damaged.
