Firmware Upgrade Madness

I have a Transcend 256GB M.2 SATA SSD 2242 for my Lenovo ThinkPad T440p. I downloaded the Transcend SSD Scope app, says there's an updated firmware. I download it. They use unetbootin to create a USB drive with the provided ISO. I do that.

The instructions say it will boot into the Linux desktop and run the firmware update automatically. Instead I am presented with a list of options for TinyCoreLinux:

UNetbootin with options for:
- Default
- Boot TinyCore
- BootTinyCore (on slow devices, waitusb=5)
- Boot Core (command line only).
- Boot Core (command line only on slow devices, waitusb=5)
- Desktop Mode (FB)
- Text Mode

I choose Default it just goes to a Linux command line prompt.

If it select Desktop Mode it gives me error: failed in waitforX

It does not boot into Linux and update per the instruction.

I don't see any other way to manually download the firmware file and run a firmware updater, only through this process.

I tried using the latest version of unetbootin as well as rufus to install the ISO on the USB with the same result.

I have no idea of Linux.

Anyone have any ideas how to update it?

Thanks.
