Would using a I5-9400f with GTX 1050ti be a suitable choice. I was wondering if it would cause any bottle necking when running games such as Call of Duty.

i5-9400f should be good for any GPU unless you are looking for 300+ FPS in CS:GO.

 

Newer big games use the GPU more heavily than the CPU.  An R3 3300x or i5-9400f is good enough for up to a GTX 2080 in the majority of games.

What are you buying now? The 9400F is on a dead socket and there are multiple MUCH better options.

Ryzen 5 3600 or i5 10600K - faster in every possible way
Ryzen 3 3300X - same performance as a 9400F but much cheaper, cooler and far more efficient and secure
Ryzen 5 1600AF/2600 - cheap and equivalent performance as the 9400F while also running much cooler and having functional security.
Even the i3 10100, while slower than the 3300X, is a better buy than the anemic 9400F
