2 PC Streaming setup question

Go to solution Solved by Jae Tee,

Usually i'd recommend the nvenc over X264 or 5, unless you have a really good cpu. But the 970 doesn't have the best looking encoder, so you might want to stick to cpu based for now.

I've googled every way I can think. But no info on my specific setup

I have 2 PCs for streaming. My game PC shouldn't matter, my streaming PC:

GTX 970 and an AMD Ryzen 3 2200g. 8GB RAM
at 6000 bit rate (max for twitch [for a nobody like me anyway])

I'm looking for best quality and I'm willing to dedicate 100% of my streaming PC's resources for best quality.

At 'Fast' w/ x264 I'm seeing my CPU maxed out, I assume all cores, not 100% sure.

vs

At "Max Quality" + Phyco Visual Tuning w/ NVENC New

EDIT: Using NDI. So my PCI is used for GPU only.

which should see the best ("high motion quality" and clarity) for 6hr+ streaming sessions?

I cannot tell much difference, in truth. So on paper, what should be best? Again, I am looking to dedicate 100% of resources to quality. Looking to max-out out GPU or CPU.

At me or quote me, I want to hear your opinion.

Hopefully anything I say is factually correct. Sorry for any mistakes in advanced.

Many thanks for quick reply. Gonna wait for possible second/third opinion before marking as solved though. I want to change this once and never think about it again. :)

The possible cheapest upgrade that'll help in a meaning full way would be a 1650 super, as it uses the new Turing nvenc encoder.

I usually switch it up depending on the game I am playing, if that makes sense. I try not to sacrifice TOO much quality from the game, as I am gaming/streaming off of one rig, so If the game I am playing needs a lot of GPU, I will usually use x264 and vice versa.

@LAGEXE If you are not affiliated or partnered with Twitch, the best resolution you will get is 720p. I would set your output to 720p 30fps, keep your bitrate where its at and you should be pleased with your results until you can stream on twitch in 1080p. (I have my bitrate set to 3000 after numerous server tests, but recently saw some more improvements by upping my bit rate to about 5000

If you have a dedicated streaming computer, you should only be using CPU encoding. It's going to give you the best looking results, hands down.
