Problems with Booting into Windows

So I have been having trouble booting into windows and I have tried scouring the forums for a hint of what my problem may be to no avail. Hopefully one of you guys will have some ideas. So when I start my desktop I usually can get into windows no problem, but on ocassion I wont be able to boot into windows. It will show a blinking dash and just stay there. The only way I have found to fix this is simply restarting and going into bios and changing my bios settings to UEFI default, even if they are already on the default settings. This usually fixes the problem. This is not an ideal solution though and I haven't been able to figure out the cause. Maybe it is just the motherboard itself though. My motherboard is the the ASRock X370 Pro 4 with a 2700x and a gtx 1060 6gb.

Does the bios reset to not UEFI each time? DO you have to go back every time and put it back on UEFI?

No it remembers the settings when I set it to default. I just mean that even when I have all the default UEFI settings, sometimes it does not boot. The only way I can fix it is by setting the bios to UEFI default again, which in theory does nothing since the settings are the exact same.

I'm gonna step back here and maybe let some more experienced people help you, as all I can come up with is replacing the cr2032 battery on the motherboard.

The way the issue is described here leads me to believe there's an issue hiding somewhere. It could be almost anything under the sun. 

 

The bios does a system self check each post/restart. Most people enable "fast boot" and this avoids certain check points.

You could try and disable fast boot and see what comes of it. 

I also recommend installing the little speaker on Front Panel in case the board has something to say that will give you a direction to diag.
