Can I start to set up a Linux server in a virtual machine then later on boot into it?

I want to be able to alt tab out to windows to look at tutorials and stuff while I set the server up. But then later maybe just move the OS so that i can boot from it, is that possible?

Well, You can set it up on a VHD, and boot into it from there, but that only works on Windows professional and up from what I know.

Another method is to transfer the data using a hard drive transfer utility, but that will take longer if you don't have the VHD option.

Or maybe you can install the OS on a partition using the virtual box.

Do you want to know what grinds my gears?

I've found instructions for the reverse of what you want. windows partition to running under linux in vm, or windows partition to running under mac in a vm.

Will work for electronic components and parts
