So I just updated the BIOS in my new build. I have 32GB of memory installed dual channel.

This is my memory here.

https://www.newegg.com/corsair-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820236541?Item=N82E16820236541

I tried to enable DOCP but my PC clicked on and off a few times and then a screen came up saying it was in safe mode and there was some instability. So I pressed F1 to go back into the BIOS to disable the DOCP profile 1. Then my PC booted up and went into windows as normal.

I have a picture showing what my BIOS says about my memory.

My memory is supposed to be able to run at 3200MHz.

I am new to this so I have no idea what went wrong.

I know the 3700X is supposed to be compatible with 3200 memory.

It's most optimal to run 2x8GB sticks at 3200mhz.

So the 16GB sticks weigh against you.

Then, in addition, that's Corsair's finest Hynix ICs which most AMD memory controllers clock like doodoo.

I don't anticipate getting 16-20-20 hynix to do what your want. No matter how much I have you train that IMC and memory.

I can only suggest to return that RAM. Get 2x8GB sticks of decent quality. Probably be able to run a much higher frequency with much better latency and performance results.

It's a little too late to return it. I have had it for a few months now. I bought it cause the RDR2 system requirements said it needed 12GB of memory. I paid $150 for it. I used it in my old build with the intention of using it in the Ryzen build I have now. I guess I could sell it.

So which memory would be best to use with an AMD board?

Glad you asked actually.

I run this memory here. Have run it on Intel and AMD setups.

So the memory I have now isn't even running at 3200?

Why does the BIOS say 3600? I am bit confused.

That's the CPU speed. Never mind. lol

Two ways to solve this:

Manually setup the timings (just the majors will do, so 4 to 6 numbers)

Run lower frequency (2933 3000 3066)

As for why 3200 kit doesnt run 3200, that's because Ryzen memory controllers are more picky with RAM.

You mean the timing, voltage and speed?

So it would be 16-20-20-38

1.35 volt

3200

I am reading this.

I guess I will just throw the 32GB kit up on Craigslist and sell it.

I will get this kit instead. It says it's specifically made to work with AMD Ryzen.

I have 32GB and RDR2 never uses the 12GB Rockstar claimed anyway. Usually it's 7 maybe 10 GB of RAM.

It says it will

Plus it has RGB so I can make my PC look like a unicorn puked in my case. I guess I will set the color to red or blue or shut it off. I really don't care for RGB.

Time to bling blong my PC.

Then get the memory I linked ya. It's worth every dollar. That memory at release time was 100$ more than you see it now. ;)

Can gladly show you a screen shot of it's potential on a Zen+ memory controller if you wish. (Your cpu will handle them better than mine)
