3300x if I have the money, the 1600 af to save money

Depends 

They are somewhat close 

The 3300x has better ipc count and a better imc but the 1600af has more cores 

If your only interested in gaming the 3300x will be more than enough 

The 1600af is if you use multi threaded work loads
