Old Ballistix Ram Compatible With New Model?

I have a pair of 4gb crucial ballistix 2400 running dual channel but now I’m in need of more ram but now one amazon and Newegg, all they sell are the newer ballistix models. So if I buy the same speed (2400mhz) to run quad channel will it matter Between the new and old ram together?

As long as they are both ddr3 or 4 it will work just fine.

Are there different latencies or timings that will make them inefficient ?

If you can match them as close to the old ones as possible then you have the greatest chance of it working without problems.

It's mainly the speed of the RAM that actually matters. If you have two sets of RAM with different speeds. Both sets will automatically default to the speed of the lowest set. Since, presumably, the type of memory is the same and the speed. It will not matter. Even if you use a different brand of memory all together.

That’s what im planning to do but I don’t know much about the manufacturing of ram so are there differences of architecture of the memory modules?

There are only a couple of actual ram manufacturers out there. But all in all as long as you match up the speed and timings as close as possible you should be fine.

Ok thanks i think I’ll try that set of ram.
