Budget (including currency): $1000

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA and online gaming

I built my first computer nearly 4 years back and I'm starting to get an itch to upgrade some of the components. Currently this is what I have:

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060
Motherboard: MSI H110M Gaming Motherboard
CPU: Intel i5-6600
RAM: 2x G.Skill Ripjaw 8GB DDR4 2400 (16 GB)
PSU: EVGA Supernova 650G 80+ Gold 650W Fully Modular
Storage: Samsung 860 Evo 500GB SATA III SSD + 1TB WD HDD

Are there any components I can look to upgrade on this rig to be able to handle current gen games at high FPS? Right now I'm playing at 1080p with budget ASUS monitors, but I will be looking to get a 144hz 1440p monitor with the upgrade.

If it's better for me to just make a brand new computer, are any of my parts worth moving over to the new PC?

Nvidia's next gen GPU and AMD's next gen CPU is due the end of the year, will that mean raising the budget of the build significantly?

If you cant wait for will still build in the $1k mark at that point, then you can get an R5 3600 (unless 10600k sky dive in price or B460 board supports memory OC) + B450 board + 2x8GB 3200MHz RAM + RTX 2070S. Yes only the storage drives and PSU are left, so this is mostly a new computer with my plan.
