Budget (including currency): 550 including tax USD

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: R6, Battlefield V, and Minecraft.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I already have a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. I’m trying to switch from Xbox to PC and this is my hard budget any suggestions are helpful. Might be ok with APU gaming.

Thanks

Great CPU for this build would be a Ryzen 3 3100.

Decent motherboard: MSI B450M-PRO VDH Max

I’m not that advanced when it comes to recommending PC parts for a build :/

If you want to save a buck or two, look for an unused computer around your house, and rid it of it’s case to use in the new PC.

I don’t know what r6 and battlefield V need, but Minecraft likes single thread over core count which points me at an AMD 3100 or 3300 for cpu.  Assuming the standard gaming computer model of 50-60% of budget on GPU that’s about $300.  The problem is even getting a basic system together is likely to cost more than that.  There seem to be no streaming, arts graphics, or compute requirements which means an AMD GPU will be slightly faster for the money and money is tight.

16gb of two sticks of some ddr4 memory, a b450 motherboard that will run the cpu (not all will), a PSU that won’t blow up (requires $60-$100 usually) a case, and the rest into the biggest baddest gpu/monitor combo that can be arranged.  I think 1080p is the most that can be hoped for here.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I would try to find a couple of these parts (or similar ones) on the used market to save some money.

The parts listed are mostly either too new (cpu/motherboard) to be findable used or too subject to mystery wear (ssd, PSU) to be wise used buys.

You might be able to do something with the memory because it’s a bit slow for top spec, and the GPU if changed to an rx580 might definitely be findable.  Cases are cases.  One thought for the CPU is to go for a 2600 instead of a 3300. About the same speed but the 2600 is older and may be findable used.
