My Personal BSOD Hell

Hey!

 

I am reaching out to see if anyone can help me or has any ideas/suggestions for my current plight.

 

I built a new PC about a year ago.

 

Spec:

Intel Core i9 (9th Gen) 9900k

Asus Rog Strix Z390-F Motherboard

2 x Western Digital Black NVMe 500GB SSD

1 x Samsung 500GB SSD

4 x 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 MHz

MSI GeForce GTX 1080ti

 

About a week ago I started to get random blue screen issues which threw random error codes ranging from Bad_Pool_Header, to System_Service_Exception to Kernel_Security_Check_Failure to System_Thread_Exception_Not_Handled_M. The list goes on and one, bottom line is I very rarely got the same code twice.

 

I noticed when I was trying to back up my data to a new external hard drive, when I was copying files after a few mins, the USB ports would disconnect and reconnect. This was not a HDD cable issue as it works fine on my laptop, or a port issue as I had checked from the rear ports too (the only other USB devices were my mouse and keyboard)

 

The first step I took was to re-install windows with all the latest drivers for my hardware - this did not help.

Windows Memory Diagnostics and Memtest86++ ran without error on all passes

FurMark ran for an hour without issue to test the GPU (max temp was 82 degrees c)

 

I moved my Hard drive and GPU into another machine which worked fine without any issues for several days, while I tried to re-build the problematic machine

 

I replaced the RAM kit with a brand new (same spec/make) RAM kit

I replaced the motherboard (Having talked to Asus support they recommended RMA on the ROG Strix) and installed an Aorus Z390 Pro

I did a fresh install of windows again on a NEW standard Western Digital 500GB SSD (just to be certain all old system drivers are gone, and the new updated ones are installed)

 

Unfortunately I am still having crashes, which is driving me insane as I REALLY cannot work this out.

My next area of focus is the CPU and/or PSU - The PSU is a Corsair HX 1200, 14 months old, It has never given any issues to date. I don't run any RGB or power sucking peripherals (except the GPU)

The CPU, I performed the test using the intel utility, which ran ok without any issues being flagged.

 

I am really out of ideas, I have a spare Corsair 750w PSU which should be enough for my needs, which I will test with tomorrow just to rule out another component. This really just leaves the CPU as the only component to not have been replaced.

 

If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it. Even if anyone knows of any paid services I could avail of to work this out for me.

Probably your PSU. I had random crashing and weird BSOD's, all caused by this ancient Antec PSU i was using lol.

Could be bad or incompatible RAM, dying drive or drivers... Many things can be the cause!

I've had this issue on my old X470 board. I fixed it with a BIOS update. It was, as far as I could figure out, the XMP on the RAM that did it. It had been running stable for a year or more, and then all of a sudden I couldn't run it for long with the XMP, but could with it off. But after a BIOS update, all was well for me.
