Hi. I am trying to download Windows 10 onto my PC's SSD. I am trying to use the Media Creation Tool on Microsoft's website to download it onto a USB. Unfortunately, as soon as it goes into the verification phase, it decides to just disable the USB (making it unopenable, not easy to format either but I'm able to get it to work) and give an error message without a code on it. I would've asked for help on Microsoft's forums but it would not allow my phone number to be used for verification.

Try a different USB stick. Certain brands use Flash NAND that doesn't always like to format correctly when using certain tools. (For example, I have ancient HP USB Disk formatting software that works fine with certain newer Kingston drives, but absolutely HATES older SanDisk drives, so I end up having to clean format them using another tool.)

Download the ISO directly then use another tool to move it to USB. E.g. go to the creation tool site (https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10), use dev mode to switch to iPad view, download the ISO. Then use Rufus (https://rufus.ie/) to burn the ISO to USB media.

Beside another flash drive suggestion, try putting Media Creation tool setup, on your USB flash drive and run it inside it. For some magical reason, problematic flash drive now works.

Another thing to try is, before running the tool from your PC, do a full / completeformat (not quick) as FAT32 or NTFS, then run the tool. this also does the trick for some USB flash drives
