I recently purchased a 120GB SSD, now that it's here I'm curious as to how to configure my system, do I keep it as an ultra-fast game drive or replace my antiquated HDD I'm currently using for my bootdrive?

The HDD I'm currently using is a 5400RPM 500GB drive partitioned 60/440GB for OS/Storage.  I bought it to replace a supposedly identical drive, but I guess I ended up with a slower drive.  It's not my smartest move, but it doesn't take that long to boot to usable windows and I've never really noticed problems with slowdowns.  I'd just re-install windows and be done with it, however that takes a sizable chunk of my free time on my day off from my full time job and I don't really want to troubleshoot it the night before I'm going back to work, which requires this PC to be in working order.

Any advice?

OS and main programs (maybe one or two of your most played games) on the SSD.

All the other stuff (media, games, files, etc.) on the HDD.

You'll get more benefit running the OS off of that SSD than you will running games off of it.

What SSD is it if you don't mind me asking?

It's a Kingston V300 120GB, I bought it on sale on amazon, had to flip a coin between it and the 240GB version.. It's not the best SSD in the world, but it was inexpensive enough for me to think "Yeah, this will be a good addition to my system."

I found it here.  Linus linked that on facebook of all places and I jumped on it since $60~ is kind of the sweet spot for me in terms of price for "upgrades."

Yea, perfect :)

Good choice.

Definitely put your OS on it.

I know it's going to be a pain in the ass to do, but it will be worth it.

I changed over almost a year ago now, and I've never looked back.

Hope this helps :)

Cool, anything special I should look out for when installing Windows 7?
