Context: I am planning a new PC build. My previous PC is completely totaled and has no use. At all. The only other PC I have are some Chromebooks. So, I am building A new PC. The only problem is, I have no PC to actually download windows off of. I do some research and, I found a way to make a bootable usb drive on chrome.

Question: I am now windows expert or a generally smart person, but the recovery software I am using supports only .bin files, not the usual .iso. If I have a usb drive with a '.bin file of windows' on it, can I use it to boot into windows?

Sources:

https://technastic.com/create-a-bootable-usb-on-chrome-os/ -here, I must convert the iso file I download to a bin file and create a bootable drive from it. I am wondering how if I can use that .bin file to boot. IDK if that even matters.

I think you might be confused: the bin file or iso contains an image of the files for the windows setup, sort of like a zip file.

Therefore you use the chrome recovery thing and it "extracts" the bin file  onto the drive and creates a bootable drive.

The article seems to suggest that it would work, but they're seems to be no way of knowing until you try.
