The fastest SSD on the market overall is the Samsung 840 Pro. It has one of the fastest read times, and a blazing fast write time too.

As far as HDD's go, the WD black is the way to go for performance. It is designed for games and overal fast read/write times. [source]

Then go for the cheaper one. Unless you need the features of the 840 Pro (namely the MLC flash for high-write endurance), just buy whatever drive is cheapest per gigabyte.

Im not someone who needs back up large amounts of files this pc i use is 100% just games and downloading movies and is a media hub i dont do any type work or need large files on it.

So think its worth getting thr 500g to ditch hhds all together?

There are faster ssd's and hdd's but you won't be wanting to stick a velociraptor in your system and the fastest ssd's are very expensive while not being that much better than the 840 Evo ...

Not for general use. Modern ssds are pretty similar for that.

If you need the speed and don't mind spending the cash , sure. I doubt you do though.
