What CPU cooler are you using?

Is it working?  Is it properly installed?  A picture of the CPU cooler and how it is installed might help.

I am using the wraith stock cooler that was included with my CPU. I'm pretty sure it is properly installed. I tried to take a picture, though I don't think it will be of much help. The fans are spinning fine so I know it is at least working.

As the title states, my cpu, a ryzen 7 2700x, is hitting temps around 80C while under >10% load. I've used multiple programs to verify this, and they all have it at around 80C when at idle. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Make sure the cooler is seated correctly and make sure there is contact with the IHS

And feel the cooler if you can keep your hands on it and it doesn't feel too warm then it is probably sensor error

Can you list the fan speeds?   It really seems like the CPU cooler is not making proper contact with the CPU, so the cooler is not able to draw heat away.

Did you add thermal paste?   Or use what was already supplied on teh CPU Cooler during installation?

Fan speeds are around 3000 rpm. I used thermal paste, so I think I'm going to reinstall the cooler, and do reapply thermal paste.

I am sure you know this already but be sure to clean off the old thermal paste from the CPU and Cooler.

Reinstalled the cooler and everything is fine now, not sure what the issue was but the temps are low now. Thanks!
