What’s the diff between non modular, semi, and modular PSUs? Also do all PSUS come with all the power cables needed?

stuff is cool. stuff that has fancy lighting is cooler. stuff that has fancy lighting and works is the coolest.

i game so i know a bit abt gaming tech, not much abt professional tech.

writing this as i finish a 3 hour D2 sesh so excuse anything wrong.

Non modular all the cables are built into the PSU, modular all the cables are changeable, semi modular most cables are modular except the ones you need like 24 Pin, 8 Pin CPU, and PCIe power.

Ahhhhhh, so for a first time builder would modular or non modular be better?

Modular is better since you don't have all the extra cables you aren't using but it's more expensive. If you don't have a big budget, or your case has a PSU shroud you go for non modular. It doesn't impact performance so it doesn't really matter it just looks nicer to not have all the extra cables if you go modular.

Ah alright. So I guess modular is better for aesthetics as it won’t have random unused cables, but non modular is easier to use I guess?

Easier in that you won't be able to lose the cables, but cable management gets significantly harder.

ah ok. so each has its ups and downs.

well i guess ill either go semi or full. it cant be that hard to plug in the right cables, can it?

If you have the budget, I would definitely recommend getting either full or semi modular. It makes building the computer easier and cable management easier. The PSU connectors are labeled CPU, PCIe, Sata etc. and the cables are usually also labeled PSU side and component side, so it isn't too hard to figure out what goes where.
