Sorry i am a newbie to RYZEN

Basically i have already overclock a ryzen 3 2200G to 3.7GHZ at the BIOS not using the Ryzen MAster.

Tested the stability with cinebench r20 and Prime 95.

But what i do not get is why doesn't the Clock speed STAY at the overclocked setting of 3.7GHz.

It keeps going up and down between 3.0 - 3.7GHz. EVEN when i turned power management to HIGH PERFORMANCE

Why do you want it to always be at peak performance?

This is like keeping your car at the redline all the time.

The CPU is doing its job at slowing down when the performance isn't needed.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Linux - Fedora

Are you saying that it is a feature that cannot be turned off??
ALL RYZEN chips do that??? They tune down when not in use (like writing a letter in ms words)?

It usually can be turned off, but it doesn't yield extra performance.

All modern chips (2005+), with few exceptions, do this.

Not really.

You can lock CPU at high frequency but if there's no load it's drawing almost no power and generating idle heat.

Power saving features are almost meaningless for individual users it's just for businesses with thousands of units where 5w per u it saves big cumulatively

Unlike a car engine

Can u tell me where in the bios i can turn it off

would probably depend on mobo, but on my 1600 by setting the multiplier to 39 it locked it there on its own. i think.

hmm don't know much about A320s. seems they have much more limited BIOS options

So i just want to clarify.

MOST ryzen will tune down when not doing anything stressful even if you already OC it.
