ASUS TURBO GTX 960 4GB OC GDDR5

Yes this is a reference design board and won't oc as good as a board with more power phases and one more thing as I said in the other post ocing will get you a 2-3% more performance if you have the cooling to back it up

Over all I don't recommend pushing this card a whole lot

And if you want a significant boost in fps you would have to upgrade it

Hello there.

Well I have bumped into a problem and wanted to ask here if anyone knows anything.

I have a Asus Turbo GTX 960 4GB OC GDDR5 and yeah I know it's a little bit old considering we are in 2020. So I decided to overclock it to get the maximum performance of it or so, and I clocked GPU Clock (Core Clock) +125 MHz and Memory Clock +500 MHz there was not significant boost in performance, actually I can say there was not any boost at all I guess. Well I used Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0 and Asus GPU Tweak II and I just found out that the overclock just helped around 85 freaking points not more. So then I decided some gaming benchmark and there was no boost at all. I tried on Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Ultra Spec and 1600*900 Resolution and got 27 fps. I tried it Non-OC and OCed but nothing. I always get 27fps. Actually one time it was 30.

So am I doing something wrong or the clocks are nothing significant for boost?

Oh by the way, I tried MSI Afterburner with MSI Kombustor and they felt like they weren't compatible with my card.

And this  is my full spec in any case you need it:

Motherboard: ASUS Pro Gaming H170 (latest bios)

CPU: Intel Core I5-6600K

GPU: ASUS Turbo GTX 960 4GB GDDR5 OC

RAM: 8GB 2400Mhz CL15 DDR4 GSkill Aegis

PSU: 650W GREEN 80 Plus Gold

Monitor: 1600*900 60Hz (yeah old school!)

Just use something like MSI afterburner to overclock it. Download either Unigine Heaven , Unigine valley or even Unigine Superposition to test it . there are guides online as well. I think even furmark is useful.

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

CURRENT PC SPECS

CPU             Ryzen 5 3600 (Formerly Ryzen 3 1200)

GPU             : ASUS RX 580 Dual OC (Formerly ASUS GTX 1060 but it got corroded for some odd reasons)

GPU COOOER      : ID Cooling Frostflow 120 VGA (Stock cooler overheats even when undervolted :()

MOBO            : MSI B350m Bazooka

MEMORY          Team Group Elite TUF DDR4 3600 Mhz CL 16
STORAGE         : Seagate Baracudda 1TB and Kingston SSD
PSU             : Thermaltake Lite power 550W (Gonna change soon as i dont trust this)
CASE            : Rakk Anyag Frost
CPU COOLER      : ID-Cooling SE 207
CASE FANS       : Mix of ID cooling fans, Corsair fans and Rakk Ounos (planned change to ID Cooling)
DISPLAY         : SpectrePro XTNS24 144hz Curved VA panel

Well I went through different guides and I saw people have pretty fps boost but (there is always a but) it didn't work me. I'm feeling like , OK I'm definitely doing something wrong.

First of all

The only way to get a noticable fps boost through ocing is under extreme conditions or if the card is binned

If you have a reference design card

Then it doesn't have as much power phases as a non reference board
