no, your best option imo is to reinstall windows on the ssd

your second option is cloning the two drives by using special software that either run on their own(think of sth like acronis recovery)

or from a prigram within windows

gaming system: Intel core I9 12900ks / biostar Z690A valkyrie / 4x8gb corsair Vengeance @3333Mhz ram / RX 7900XTX pulse gpu / Thermalright peerless assassin 140 /Coolermaster Qube 500 case / Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 12 1500w power supply

laptop: Dell xps 9510, 3.5k OLED, i7 11800h, rtx 3050 ti, 2x16gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz, 1TB main drive, 2TB add in ssd

there is a process called cloning that... well clones all the contents of one drive into another if you think redownloading your programs is a hassle then try cloning(and then boot off of the ssd)

what i was planning on doing was having windows and a couple important files on the ssd since it's only 120gb, have the 1tb hard drive that comes with the pc for my steam library, and the other 1tb hard drive i have for standard files

yeah ok then i'd recommend reinstalling windows from the start on your ssd

thats where cloning would come up but since your source is 1tb and your target 120gb is won't work, and as of now im not aware of any partial cloning techniques

so say i install windows on the ssd, change all the settings to match on the hdd, what do i do after that since i assume having two storage things both having windows on them is a problem

you can either format the hard drive or go into its directory and delete the windows files one by one(two installations isnt a problem just be sure to set your boot priority on the ssd)
