My roommate had FIOS internet at his old apartment and we are now at a new apartment that is also set up for FIOS. We saw that there was already an FIOS ONT box installed even though we have the equipment from the old apartment. We ordered internet so that it would start yesterday, but we are not getting internet. Do we have to set up the old equipment or use the one already installed? Do we also have to activate it somehow with Verizon?

The ONT (box which has a fiber input, and outputs consisting of RJ45, Coax, and RJ11), is tied to the account and needs to be the one they expect to have at that address. The ONT is not supposed to be moved from one location to another - it actually remains the property of Verizon, because you do NOT pay for it nor rent it.

The Router (FiOS Gateway, has RJ45 WAN, 4x RJ45 LAN, and a Coax connector) is basically a normal router, and you don't need to use it unless you also have FiOS TV service. They can be interchanged with one another or with a non-Verizon router, the only thing to be aware of is if you provide or purchase one then make sure they remove the monthly rental fee from the bill.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:
