Hi everyone!

I have a problem booting my PC. The system power turns on, but won't boot randomly. I need to shut down power and reboot to get the system to boot. After that it runs just fine.

After the problem surfaced, I have replaced my GPU, SSD and PSU. Running stock 3200MHz memory and Ryzen 5 3600. MB is MSI B450i Gaming Plus AC. Could it be my memory Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2x8GB 3200Mhz CL16 XMP2.0 v.4.32? I mean it is specified XMP not Ryzen. MSI support tell's version 4.31 is supported but no mention of v4.32...

Help plz.

-Don

  • 1 month later...

I recently built a new system with a MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus, a Ryzen 7 3700X and 2x8GB G.Skill RipJaws V DDR4-3200 CL16.
Ever since I enabled XMP (Profile 1 or 2), I regularly ran into the issue you describe. I tried updating the BIOS to the newest version, but to no avail.
What solved the issue for me was going into the BIOS > Settings > Boot and set "Boot mode select" to "UEFI".

Before I did this, it became so bad that it got stuck almost every boot. It's been about two weeks now and I didn't run into this problem since I changed this setting while booting daily.

I hope this resolves the issue for you as well!

Plus, I also kind of hope someone can explain why this fixes the issue, or what might cause it in the first place! I just stumbled upon this setting and got lucky...
