Absolute Minimum PSU

Swordhero1

What happens if load wattage goes a couple watts over the rating? Like 10 or 20 watts? Im trying to put together an i3-2120 and a gtx 760 with a 400W psu and it seems to be on the very edge. i know you are going to recommend a higher PSU, but I just want to know if this would work, as I already have the psu.

It is 80 Plus certified, but when I use a psu calculator it says load wattage is literally 400.

Well, this is just asking for trouble. Molex cable has just one 12V wire whereas 8-pin PCIe connector needs three. I strongly recommend against using that adapter.

Rule of thumb: if your PSU doesn't have enough cables, it's not meant to power your system. You should get a new good quality unit.

80 Plus certificate only provides information about the efficiency of the unit, not its quality. This is really low quality unit that needs to be replaced.

It's a bottom of the line Cougar.

80 PLUS is an efficiency rating, not a quality rating.

Adapters create a weak link in the connection as it adds resistance to the circuit.
