Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 7 A715-72g Laptop, and it has an Intel core i5 8300H processor, a GeForce GTX 1050 (mobile) graphics card with 4gb DDR5 Memory, 20GB DDR4 2666MHz Ram (16gb + 4gb) [IK this isnt ideal to make use of dual channel], a 1TB MX500 SSD + 16GB Optane, and a 60Hz IPS Monitor (which may not be ideal for my intended use).

My intended use for this laptop is gaming, and for doing some work (mostly gaming 😃). So, back to the question, where is the bottleneck in this setup, and by how much is it limiting the potential? Thanks in advance for your replies :)

bottlenecks will depend on the applications itself. some games will be limited by the cpu, some by the gpu. the specs of your laptop are pretty balanced, so I wouldn't say there is a real bottleneck anywhere. and it's not like you can upgrade anything apart from ram and storage, it's a laptop

well I already tried and it seems to run fine, but I'm just wondering whether there's any major limiting factor

Lol, my 1070 struggles a bit with 1080p 120 fps gta v and thats a 7 year old game, thats what i think he meant by ambitious,

but i found it to be heavily cpu intensive for some reason

I doubt the CPU will ever hold the GPU back in games so the bottleneck here would be the GPU and you cannot upgrade it as it is a laptop, unless you have Thunderbolt 3

run gta and use some monitoring software lime msi afterburner overlay to see if you cpu is at 100% utilisation or you gpu is at 100% utilisations. whichever is at 100%, that's your bottleneck for that particular game. but you can't do anything about it anyway, so why worry?

Hi, it doesnt look like any factors are at 100% when I  run the game
