need some help

i didnt know where to put this but when i tab into rust( game ) my refresh rate is 144 for about 2 seconds then it drops to 30... im sure its not my hardware as i have msi overlay on monitoring it all and everything is fine. 70 to 90 fps 

 

any tips would be nice :) thanks

i have a ryzen 7 2700x, 16gb 3600mhz corsair. rx 5700 xt msi x470

When you say you tab into the game, I assume you mean you have other things running in the background, and switch out of them, into the game. What happens if you close everything and just run the game itself?
