I am trying to fins a good gaming headset for around $150. I have tried the Razer Kraken Pro and Logitech G930. THE Razer was too tight on my massive head (I hate circular ear cups, ovular are better for me) and the G930 were terrible, never worked and bad sound quality.

I am looking at http://store.madcatz.com/brands/tritton/TRITTON-720-7-1-Surround-Headset-for-PC-and-Mobile-Devices-White.html

and http://store.madcatz.com/brands/tritton/TRITTON-PRO-True-5-1-Surround-Headset-for-PC-and-Mac.html

Can anyone tell me the real differences between them and which is better for any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did your G930s cut out constantly? I read that it can be caused if you have a ton of wireless signals going on around your house. Mine were horrific. I still have them in a drawer somewhere.

Anyways... Onto the opinions.

I'm not a big fan of Trittons only because of the one time I purchased a pair. Same goes with Turtle Beach. But I've owned; Logitech, Turtle Beach, Tritton, Razer, Corsair and Astro. In that order from oldest to most recent.

In my opinion, my order of favorite to least favorite.... Astro, Corsair, Razer, Tritton, Logitech and Turtle Beach.

The Corsair headsets are very comfortable, but they also might give you the same squeeze as your Razer experience. This is only based on my own opinion and experience. I too, haveth a large head.

Corsair 2100. 129.99

If you're willing to shell out an additional 50$, you can go with the Siberia Elites.

Siberia Elite. 199.99

Practically any Sennheiser headset, from what I've heard, has amazing sound quality. Likely ranked at the top of the entire gaming headset list. So you might want to check out Sennheisers' website. I would recommend something but I'm not familiar with the brand at all.

Wait, I just looked at the price for the 360. That thing's almost twice his budget! Why is that being recommended!?

EDIT: My mistake, Verne actually had a link that was in your budget. If so, go with the 360s with the strong recommendations.

One is 5.1 surround sound while the other is 7.1, right off hand.

The 5.1 apparently cannot be used with mobile devices. Therefore you could use the 7.1 as actual headphones.

The 7.1 has a 50mm speaker while the 5.1 has a 40mm. Though since they are both closed backs they will both have a lot of bass. The potentially strong bass for both might drown out the quality so that might not matter.

5.1 has more on the fly controls with the built in controller.

5.1 uses audio jacks while the 7.1 uses USB.

I like the controller on the 5.1 a lot more.

So yeah. I'd go with the 5.1. Personally.

But I dislike Tritton, so don't take my word for you. You can learn more about it at your local library.

The one I linked to Amazon is only $166. Are you sure you're not looking at 350 or 363D or the newer G4ME series?

You're right, sorry about that. I was looking it up on Google after the first person recommended it followed up by all the other recommendations. First link that popped up was Newegg.

I don't know what's up with the fluctuations in their pricing lately.

Here is the link for the pc360. Not to long ago I was in the same boat as you, I bought these and don't regret a thing. Sound quality is sooooooo much better then on any of my other headphones and the mic quality ill admit is not as great as a standalone, but is clear and never fades. It does pick up a little background noise, but its not noticeable on the other end of the conversation.

Does not having a second parenthesis around something bother anyone else as much as it does me? (Like if this statement was missing a second side)

When they are just chilling plugged in, is there that slight buzz that happens with most every headset?

No there is no buzz, but they are an open ear headset so if you have music playing and they are just laying on the desk, you can hear it.
