I am using 2 mis-matched ddr3 sticks, one @1333 MHz and one @1600 MHz. The 1600 MHz down clocks automatically to 1333.

I am on an upgraded dell Inspiron 580, and see no such options in the bios to overclock or modify my ram. Is there a way to get my ram to run at higher speeds without using the BIOS? It’s an old system, and I’m willing to risk bricking it.

pls help lol

It has a locked BIOS and cant change it. Only way to overclock CPU or RAM is with an aftermarket motherboard.

Read this article on Toms Hardware, https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ram-overclocking-guide,4693.html, does it apply to your needs?

Otherwise, save some $ for a new rig.

I heard Intel xtreme tuning utility might do is that right or not?

this is not my main rig; I build and upgrade used pc’s and sell them as a hobby. I always try to push old hardware to its limits, to build some awesome budget pc’s. Upgrading the Mobo is going to make me lose money, so that’s impossible.

currentky I have not that much money invested, and another cpu+Mobo+ram laying around, bricking it isn’t one of my fears, so every uncovential way is welcome too

And I am not sure if Intel´s XTU will work on that system, try it, but be conservative if you are going to sell it.

Nothing worse than selling an unstable system.

Do some heavy stress tests on it and check temperatures.

Will try XTU after win10 is installed, I always benchmark to check stability for temps :) thanks for the help! If intel XTU won’t work i guess I’ll stay to the 1333.
