Budget (including currency): Loose but around $4k CAD

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Cyberpunk 2077 is the big one, but also Escape from Tarkov among other games. May be used for animation work as well

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have a parts list at Pcpartpicker. I'm building this for my friend and just want to double check that this is going to work well. He'll be buying a 1440p 144hz monitor at some point for this. Budget isn't really an issue (nothing too stupid though), he was going to buy a car but then the pandemic hit. The upgrade is from a prebuilt with an added gpu (i7-4790, 8gb ram, 1060, no ssd). I just want some more eyes on the list to double check considering the amount of money being spent. Thanks!

looks good. go for 2x16 gb ram, it's easier to overclock.

the case looks insanely overpriced. so is the ssd.

The case is available for $120 at Canada computers, I don't know why partpicker can't see that. The ssd seems cheap compared to other options. Does AM4 not have quad channel memory?

ah $120 makes more sense. no, am4 is dual channel only.

Okay. I'm not sure if I'm going to overclock the memory at all, I want it to be super stable and long lasting. This build should last for a very long time

by overclocking I mostly meant getting it to runt at the rated speed (3200 in your case). i'd advise getting a 2 x16 3600 kit
