Hi everybody, I have a few questions about my current HTPC that I would like some help.

I bought it on fb marketplace for 60 euro but it's pretty old. (specs screenshot later)

After using it for some time it started to get occasional crashes even when doing simple tasks such as video playback (vlc player) and even when using youtube.

I wasn't sure what was the problem but I had a guess that it might be the ram because it used 4 x 1GB rams of not the same brand:

Old RAMs

After salvaging some HyperX Fury 2 x 4GB I had in my old build I replaced it and it boot:

The crashes stopped happening after swapping the RAMs but my problem was that it actually only detected single channel ddr3 even though I put it in 2-4 slots like most motherboards.

I then proceeded to switch them into slots 1-3 and it failed ti boot.

After taking a closer look at the slot colors I noticed that slot 1-2 & 3-4 were matching colors:

So i tried putting them in slots 3-4 and it was a success:

Anybody knows why this weird of slots setup? or did it use to be like this 10 years ago? lol

Bonus screenshot of my old PC that I got the HyperX Fury from:

Bonus Question:

would it benefit me if I also use the 2 other dim slots to use an extra 2GB ram (2x1gb) since I have it laying around?

that's a total of 10gb but I'm afraid it might start the random crashes again.
