I have an acer laptop with 8gb ram installed, but for some reason it only shows 3.2 gb usable. I am running 64 bit windows 10. I've tried unchecking the boxes in msconfig to no avail, and I tried enabling memory remapping in my BIOS, but that setting isn't present in the BIOS on this laptop. I have swapped the two 4gb sticks in the motherboard which didn't fix the problem either, so I guess it is possible that I have a faulty mobo which in that case there isn't really a solution to the problem. I included some screenshots below to explain the situation. If anyone knows anything else that it could be can you please help me, thanks.

if you know how, pull the ram card, and check the sticker. alot of acers have a weird issue correctly identifying ram size. if im not mistaken, that model ships with 4gb, but it may see it in the bios as 8gb.

edit: never mind, re-read your post. try clearing cmos?

also, try taking both ram sticks out, try each one at a time, in both slots, just to rule out any bad stick, or bad slot issues.
