High Sierra and odd USB issues (Hackintosh VM)

I have an odd issue with my Via USB3 card. It's being passed to a HIgh Sierra installation in a VM. Initially the keyboard works fine in Clover, however when the OS boots neither the keyboard or mouse work. USB drives however work fine.

 

I can get USB working by passing the VM an entire onboard USB controller, however only one port works and only if a device is plugged in at boot. If I unplug and replug the keyboard, the port stops working.

 

The onboard USB is a USB 1.0 and 2.0 mix (it's an older machine).

 

Any ideas?
