Hey, currently have a40 tr with the mixamp but it's on its final legs and having issues. So feel it's time for a upgrade. Been trying to find a decent par of headphones. I don't need the mic since I have a studio mic I use while I'm gaming. I play alot of r6. Also really enjoy listening to music and watching movies. My budget is under 300 for some good headphones.

These are by far the best headphones at the price point, by miles.

People run these as their end game headphones, and I totally understand why. I have a pair, and properly driven they punch, way, WAY above their weight class. Plug them into a normal amp/dac and they would great, plug them into a multi-thousand dollar tube amp and a thousand dollar dac, and they sound astounding. They scale extremely well, although they are a bit hard to drive because they are 600 ohm impedance. That said, your PC won't have an issue driving them, but your phone at full volume will not be very loud, if your phone has a headphone port... lol.

They really are the best headphone at anywhere near that price point. I love them, and if you want to get more out of them, a schiit stack (schiit audios amp and dac) for ~200 bucks brings them to an entirely new level.

You need to be careful when you say "good" when it comes to headphones. Everyone likes different sound signatures, materials, etc.

If you include the sound or music you generally enjoy, it'll be easier for someone to give you some suggestions.

The headphones @LIGISTX suggested aren't bad, however they're open back and have a velvet ear cup which may or may not drive you insane. I hated mine.

I mean, this is true, and I would explore people to do research into the headphones people recommend, not just take a single point of advice.

I listen to all music, play games, have watched movies and TV shows with, use them for discord etc. They are extremely natural sounding, and the clarity and sound stage they provide for the price is simply unmatched. I like my Fostex more, but that is because they are a better match to the sound signature I more prefer, they are more bass heavy. But they also cost twice as much...

For the price, the 6xx's are in a totally different league than the hyperX or whatever other gaming headphones are usually around the 1-200 dollar price point, they are audiophone grade headphones. In the pix bellow, with the custom tube amp and a schiit bifrost (which uses their multibit tech), the 6xx was one of my favorite headphones in the round up. They don't resolve nearly as well as the 800s's did, their sound stage was much less impressive, but they were much easier to listen to and the overall sound they produce is just mind blowing, price not even being a consideration. When you factor in they are ~200 bucks, its out of this world.

Of those headphones in the pix, my favorite are my buddies ZMF Eikons, to me they are very similar to my Fostex TR-X00's, but just better in every way. With all of the headphones we have between the three of us, and using this custom tube amp and the bifrost, I would rate the ZMF Eikons number 1, 6xx as number 2, my TR-X00's as 3, and after that its hard to say. With my Lyr 3, I rank the 6xx's a little lower, I prefer my TR-X00's with the lyr 3, but that isn't to say I don't bust out the 6xx's from time to time.

Yes, headphones are subjective, you can't say one pair is best... But for the price, and how well they scale, and the fact they are so highly rated by so many, not to mention in the assortment in the pix bellow they are by far and away anywhere from half the price to an order of magnitude less in price and still totally hold up, its hard to not blanket recommend them.

Not Really sure what materials and all that i really like yet since i haven't been exposed to it. I listen to mostly rock/metal or electronic. Do really enjoy watching movies, I think i really like the bass but i also want to to be clear and not have the bass be overwhelming. But 85% of my time i mostly do gaming, more specifically competitive fps like rainbow six siege. I was also looking at another forum that recommended this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071XKQQ57/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2RJQ91IHY4NS4&psc=1 which doesn't look to bad. But do not want to just choose from 1 or 2 but to have a better idea of what im choosing and what it offers. Sorry probally sounding complicated now.
