I currently have an HP omen obelisk 875-0035qe that I got for $1,000 used. It has an Intel i7-8700 with an rtx 2080 but has a stock Intel cooler and a pretty basic HP motherboard. I don't have many issues with this build but the cooling
is actually horrible. I've been wanting to do a case swap and maybe get an AIO water cooler for my cpu. Any recommendations for a cheap good looking case / water cooler?image.png.0324905b677d788c0657f0723ab82601.png

Fractal Meshify C with a 280mm+ AIO.

HP Edoras micro-ATX is the motherboard, as stated below by @SpookyCitrus.  May be an issue fitting it in the Meshify, not sure tho.

I believe the Obelisk(like all of the Omen line) uses an HP proprietary motherboard so you would likely have to get a new mohterboard as well, possibly even a PSU. As those two parts other than the case are not standard and will not work in a standard case. The PSU may fit but it more than likely uses a non standard 24pin or connectors.

  • 2 months later...

I was looking at water cooling on the same HP Omen but as the motherboard has to come out to achieve this I just swapped the HP Omen in to a Corsair Carbide Series 275R Mid-Tower ATX Gaming Case using the stock motherboard and added a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Air Cooling System with no issues, and all for about the same cost as a decent 240mm AIO water cooling system,  It now has 3 intake and 2 exhaust 120mm fans (had added a couple of extra fans to the Omen before), there are no additional fan headers so I have had to use splitter cables.

I chose the Corsair as the configuration of 2 x USB 3, power and audio sockets on the top of the case was as close to the HP Omen as I could find. Only the reset button on the case is redundant. I haven't fitted the Omen light board as I'm not to fussed about it but I may get around to it just to see if I can.

The hardest bit was removing the CPU cooler back plate as HP glue it to the motherboard. Just took my time and gently prised it off with a butter knife!

Before the CPU would hit mid 90's playing Warzone for 25 minutes, since the case swap it sits at 73 max.
