Hello!

My issue is this: The PC sometimes just freezes for 1 or 2 seconds and i hear fans speed up (No clue if it's the GPU, CPU or power supply fans), as by the time i try to find it out the spinning stops. It has been doing it since almost the first day I bought it, but I didn't think of it as much.
It gets unfrozen instantly and all is like nothing happened. Any idea on what could be the cause of this problem? I've switched to 2 monitors not too long ago and actually noticed that only one of the two screens gets frozen..

I have been using this PC for about 8 months now.
It's unfortunately a pre-built that i bought randomly at a tech store: i5-9400F, Gigabyte RTX 2060 6gb. I have since upgraded RAM to Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb 3000 MHz, just thought i'd list the specs out.

Any ideas as to what it could be?

Are your all your drivers up to date? If that doesn't do it, if you've been doing a lot of overclocking or running very intensive tasks then check the thermal paste on your cpu or maybe even your gpu. Also keep in mind that the recommended ram speed for the core i5-9400f is ddr4-2666.

The ram is working at 2666 MHz, and no overclocking anywhere.. And as far as I've seen the temps don't get higher than 40-50 degrees..

The freezes happen during games, but I doubt Runescape is much of an intensive task these days 🤣

So how is your thermal paste? I would recommend that you replace the thermal paste at least on the cpu with newer ones, like the Grizzly Kryonaut or the Arctic MX-4. And what about your gpu and mobo drivers?

I updated gpu drivers today, same issue..

What are mobo drivers, i have never heard of them before?

Also i used the nzxt cam to spectate on the cpu/gpu temps, when the freeze occurs and the spinning sound happens, the rpm of the cpu cooler amd gpu cooler is the same, so is the temperature and usage..

mobo drivers are like for your audio, special features that your motherboard has, and the bios. probably not important tbh right now. also, your psu should be at least 500-550 watts to fully support your rtx 2060, of course if you run runescape then 450 watts would be fine but not really desirable.

It has been doing ut since day one, but i didn't notice it as much, now it's getting just plain annoying..

No weird software was installed on it..

And I'm getting a new cooler soon, so will check on the thermal paste..

Any other possible reasons ?

Like, I know Sager/Clevo had some software that controlled hotkeys on the keyboards of some laptops (including mine) that randomly pegged the CPU and did this. From the factory. May want to try a lean startup (aka no software enabled) and see what happens.

PSU is at 500W capacity. although it's not really a high end one..
